The Hiring Process
Overview

Your application is important to us. We will give it prompt and fair attention. We will screen it carefully in relation to those of other candidates using specific criteria. The quality of your application and evidence of a strong work ethic are critical considerations. Evidence of effective professional practice is weighted heavily in the review of applications for administrative, teaching and student services positions.

Because Portland Public Schools receives hundreds of applications each year, we are unable to respond to each and every one. You will hear from us only if you are selected for an interview. Calls and inquiries about the status of your application will not increase your chances of employment.

Your application will remain active during one school year. Should you wish to be considered the following year, you must re-apply and complete a new application.

All offers of employment are contingent on eligibility for certification and the results of a criminal records check.
